Cylindrical roller bearings are designed to withstand extreme radial loads during high speed operation. They consist of cylindrical rollers guided by ribs in the outer or inner ring.
The seatless bearing unit consists of a hardened outer cover and a shaft ring (raceway). It is also equipped with a tapered rolling body separated by a centrifugally cast copper cage (cage).
The Rollway tandem thrust bearing was originally designed and patented by Rollway Bearing Corp in 1945 with patent number #2374820. The series (multi-stage) bearing design achieves greater axial load bearing capacity with a smaller package size.
The balls are supported both in the radial and axial directions. This is due to the fact that the inner and outer raceways are provided with deep grooves. This allows the bearing to offset a small misalignment.
